I am an evolutionary zoologist with a particular focus on mammals. I am especially interested in the systematics, phylogeography and conservation of Cervidae and in theoretical issues, most of all pertaining to species concepts and phylogenetics. After 10 years as a research scientist at Kiel University, Germany, I have been head of the Mammal Collection at the Natural History Museum Vienna in Austria since 2011. Since 2007 I have been managing editor/editor-in-chief for the journal Mammalian Biology.
