Department of Parks and Wildlife

Parks and Wildlife manages 29 million hectares of conservation land across Western Australia, and through its flagship wildlife recovery program Western Shield, is safeguarding WA’s native animals.
The program is working to bring at least 30 native fauna species back from the brink of extinction by undertaking native species translocations and controlling introduced predators, the fox and feral cat, through baiting. Now in its 21st year, Western Shield is one of the biggest wildlife conservation program undertaken in Australia.
