In this tour participants will travel to the South-West of Western Australia, to the Leschenault Peninsula, Bunbury and Busselton. Participants will engage in mammal trapping and spotting activities as well as tourist activities such as visiting the Busselton Jetty and the Dolphin Discovery Centre in Bunbury.
Notes for participants:
Accommodation is at the Leschenault Field Station, which is jointly managed by UWA and the Department of Parks and Wildlife. Participants will need to bring sleeping bags and towels, as no linen is proved. Participants should bring sturdy shoes, long pants, warm clothes (it can be quite cold) and wet weather gear.
Day 1 - Saturday 15 July
9.00 am - Travel to Leschenault Field Station
11.00am - Arrive at Leschenault Field Station, unpack and early lunch
12.00-2pm - Set traps
2.30-6pm - Visit Leschenault Peninsula (local DPAW person to lead)
6.30pm - Dinner at field station (pizza)
8.00-11pm - Spotlight search for possums
Day 2 - Sunday 16 July
6.30 am - Breakfast
8.00-10.30am - Check traps
11.30-1pm - Bunbury (Dolphin Discovery Centre)
1.00 pm - Lunch
1.30-2.30 pm - Travel to Busselton
2.30-5.30 pm - Busselton (Jetty & Underwater observatory)
6.00 pm - Dinner at local restaurant
7.30-9.30 pm - Visit to rope bridge and spotlight for more possums
9.30-10.30 - Travel back to Leschenault
Day 3 - Monday 17 July
7.00 am - Breakfast
8.30-11.30am - Check and collect traps
11.30-1pm - Lunch, pack and depart
3.00 pm - Approximate arrival in Perth
